There is no charge to register your web site with PrivacyPolice.org. PrivacyPolice.org is a voluntary, non-profit organization. Members agree to follow the policies and practices outlined below.
PrivacyPolice.org does not accept sites containing pornography or sites promoting hate groups.
Benefits of membership:
- Right to display the notable PrivacyPolice.org badge logo anywhere on the site.
- Guidelines to creating a fair and honest privacy policy for the site.
- Link on the PrivacyPolice.org membership page.
Members agree to abide by the following principles:
- Personal information will not be given, rented, sold or published to any third-party without the express permission of the customer or visitor.
- A mechanism or procedure must be in place and published that allows customers to withhold or withdraw permission to redistribute their personal information.
- Cookies created on computers used by visitors or customers will expire within 24 hours and will not contain any personal information.
- Transactions, whether eCommerce or form entry, that require personal information will only be transmitted through the Internet via a secure server connection. This connection will be recognized and authenticated by a third party authentication service.
- Transaction and eCommerce information will be stored on secured servers in locations not accessable to the public and protected by firewalls and the latest security technologies.
- A link to the site's privacy policy and contact information will be prominently displayed on the home page and all other appropriate pages.
- The site's privacy policy will be written in common English, not legalese.
